Dear Brothers and Sisters,
While things are going well overall for the Mission, we still need your prayers in critical areas that are inherent to the inner-city. Please pray that God will open eyes and soften hearts of many more in our area to be saved and grow to maturity. Pray also that the Lord will send more stable families who can help to sustain the work!
FOR FAITHFUL MEN
We continue to find great difficulty reaching men. Many are in gangs, prison, or are living with girlfriends. Most are hardened to the gospel. Please pray that God will open the spiritual eyes of these men and cause them to surrender to Christ for salvation and that the saved will grow to be faithful leaders in the Church, their homes and community. Our prayer is also that each man who is able will find and keep a job. Finally we are praying that the men who attend the Mission will faithfully minister to their wives and children.
COHABITATING COUPLES
The number of couples who visit the Mission and live together is almost at an epidemic proportion. I have talked to many about the sin of fornication and about honoring Christ through marriage. Please pray that God will open the eyes of many to repent of their sin, that they will choose to honor Christ through marriage, and become faithful members of the Mission.
WISE AND LOVING PARENTS
We often see the extreme of parents - those who are passive to the point that kids have little guidance and little discipline or the parents who are harsh and blow-up over the smallest matter. Please pray that the parents in our ministry area will learn to consistently raise their children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord, to know God, love Him, and fear Him. We are also praying that the parents will live their faith in front of their children.
LASTING FRUIT IN THE LIVES OF CHILDREN.
We have been involved in teaching children the word of God for more than 15 years. Our members pour their hearts out in teaching, explaining, and instilling the word in the kids through plays, skits, Christian movies and various other means. Many of the kids go home to an environments where Christ is not proclaimed. The vast majority grow up and live like they never knew Christ or His word. Please pray that many kids will grow in grace and knowledge of God and that many will chose Christ rather than their culture.
THE BUILDING PROCESS
I don’t often complain about problems, but we are having great difficulty in our dealings with local municipalities. It seems that these agencies devise new regulations in order to increase revenues at the expense of Churches. Each time that we think that we have completed our plans according to their standards, they come up with something new. Now these agencies are attempting to triple the cost of the original plans through new zoning rules. Please pray that we will be able to avoid these excessive costs and obtain our permit!!
